Songs poured out of me in the old days. Once I wrote a song in the parking lot of a recording studio and later when the weather forecaster in the radio station challenged me, I said, "Give me that report and I'll write you a song. " It's called "Sweet Gale". Songs don't come as fast anymore but they keep on coming.
All new - done in 2020 - includes two love songs and "VooDoo Man" - a prize winning short story written in 1998. It's a bare bones rendition with my guitar enhanced by Nashville studio musicians. I hope each song will amuse, entertain and que memories for you. All arise from my heart and own experiences.

I've lived long, shed many skins and done a little 'runnin with the devil'. These are all original lyrics and tunes straight from the soul of John Oscar Atkinson aka KINGSNAKE. "Champion of Fools" is one you won't forget. Others never leave your mind and you'll hum the melodies as you contemplate the messages. They're offered here for your pleasure."

Latest and greatest - we all keep learning and have our best sound going. We've got young Johnny's exuberance against a mature man's reflections and a love song you'll never forget.

John's songs began their evolution as he hitchhiked the highways of America starting at the age of 14. Now many years later, along with Nashville's finest, he presents them on this CD.

It's Country shaken with Delta Soul, a cowboy's lament, blues and a wedding song done especially for one who is not so beautiful but dearly loved.

Do I hear one dollar for the man who's been searching for his soul? He lost in the land of wonder in the place where the broken hearts go. Three cheers for the auctioneer. The price is right for Godly ways.
Do I hear one dollar, should we turn our thoughts to another day?
He drifted away not knowing the debt he would pay.
He drifted too far not knowing the day of the sale.
Holed out in a mansion or locked away in a foreign jail.
Someone should have warned him to read the US mail. Do I hear one dollar for the man whose been searching for his soul? He's lost in a land of wonder, the place where the broken hearts go. Three cheers for the auctioneer, the price is right for Godly ways. Do I hear one dollar should we turn our thoughts to another day?
I got a bottle ef booze and a gallon of blues since my baby left me, I got nothing to lose, I got a bottle of booze and a gallon of blues, I sit down and I cry with my gallon of blues.
I've been laying around drinking for two weeks or more, I got so many bottles piled in the kitchen I lost score. My neighbors drive down the street and it sure is a disgrace to see what's happened to that man, his home and his place.
I got a bottle of booze and a gallon of blues since my baby left me, I got nothing to lose. I got a bottle of booze and a gallon of blues, I sit down and I cry with my gallon of blues.
Well I haven't worked in three months or more (I don't understand why they don't need a brain surgeon) While my high octane woman, she didn't take it laying down, next thing I know, she was headed out the do' with a ticket to another town.
I got a bottle of booze and a gallon of blues since my baby left me, I got nothing to lose. I got a bottle of booze and a gallon of blues, I sit down and I cry with my gallon of blues.
I got a brand new car in a two car garage, making the payments at the bank but there is something mighty strange she ain't got no gas in the tank. I got me a job working down at the factory making money in the day dreaming about that weekend when I can drive my new car away.
But this city life has really got me down, pass the aspirin if you please - staying out all night, painting the town has got me a headache to where I can't breathe. And this brand new car in a two car garage got my nose to the grindstone. Now how I was I had a model T and could leave them ole new cars alone.
Yes they make it so easy to buy a new car - sign on the dotted line. 48 months don't pass so easy but then you get it - your title at last. When you look out your window three fenders are gone, you got a flat tire and a cracked windshield. The ole gal is saying, :I wanna go shopping" but you ain't got no gas in her tank - you heel - she ain't got a drop in her tank.
She keeps my head a little foggy, with a chance of precipitating eyes. Her heart is partly cold with her lows dissipating my highs. Oh Sweet Gale is her name, moving soft like a summer breeze with a hurricane heart she things she's smart, keeping a high pressure over me. Now I exercise caution when she moves all around, just when I think I got things going, that's when Gale blows me down. Now it's travelers advisory, when she's around so they say, keep your hands where they can be found or someone will carry you damn well away. She keeps my head a little foggy with a chance of precipitating eyes, her heart is partly cold with her low dissipating my highs. Talking about her lows dissipating my highs. Hear me say her lows dissipating my highs.
